Trump unveils limited-edition commemorative US passport bearing his image to mark America's 250th anniversary
President Trump on Friday posted a rendering on Truth Social of a limited-edition commemorative US passport featuring his likeness, set to be released this summer as part of the nation's 250th anniversary celebration. The passport page shows Trump's image over his signature with the text of the Declaration of Independence in the background, alongside a reproduction of John Trumbull's painting "The Declaration of Independence." The passport was first announced in April and is being produced by the State Department.
President Trump posted to Truth Social on Friday unveiling a rendering of a special commemorative US passport that features his image on an interior page alongside founding-era imagery. "The U.S.A.'s New Passport, which says, 'Welcome, but be good!' President DJT," Trump wrote. The White House's official X account later reposted the same image, captioned "New U.S. Passport to Commemorate America's 250th."
The limited-edition passport was first announced in April as part of the broader "America250" celebration of American independence. The State Department described it as featuring "custom artwork and enhanced images on the front, back, and inside covers." A State Department official told CNN the passport "will be the default passport out of the Washington Passport Agency when available" for those who renew in person at that location, while online renewals and other locations "will maintain existing passport design." Fox News Digital reported that the passports will be available to any American citizen who applies during the rollout, for as long as supplies last.
CNN noted that the rendering Trump posted on Friday appears to be based on his portrait from the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, and differs from earlier renderings released by the State Department. The White House directed CNN's questions about whether Friday's image represents the final official design to the State Department, which had not responded to CNN at the time of publication.
