Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to hold wedding celebration at Madison Square Garden over July Fourth weekend

The wedding celebration is expected to draw roughly 1,000 guests to the Midtown Manhattan arena on Friday night, according to sources who spoke to CNN. A smaller rehearsal dinner is planned for Thursday, a law enforcement official briefed on security plans told the AP on condition of anonymity. In recent days, crews were observed unloading equipment from trucks outside the arena, and a large carpet was briefly unveiled at one entrance before being removed.

Madison Square Garden, which seats up to 19,500 people, sits above Penn Station, the busiest rail hub in the United States. The AP noted the arena has guarded entrances, a secure garage, and no windows, features that allow the couple and their celebrity guests to avoid photographers and camera-equipped drones. MSG has hosted weddings before, including funk singer Sly Stone's 1974 marriage to actor Kathy Silva and a mass ceremony officiated by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon in 1982.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani stopped short of formally confirming the event but made repeated public references to it. At a June news conference focused on World Cup security, he listed "Taylor Swift's wedding" among the major events the city was preparing for alongside July Fourth festivities and a Knicks Finals run. At a separate Wednesday briefing on the East Coast heat wave, he told reporters that anyone "getting married" at MSG that weekend would be "staying inside" and "staying cool," and he posted social media tips for New Yorkers to beat the heat — "especially if you're (hypothetically) having your wedding at MSG this weekend," he wrote. When pressed for details, Mamdani said only, "We are fully prepared. There isn't anything to share beyond that."
