Two men parachute from Seattle's Space Needle after climbing observation deck glass wall
Two men parachuted from the top of Seattle's Space Needle on Friday evening after climbing over the glass wall of the observation deck, approximately 605 feet above the ground. Seattle police are searching for the individuals and say they face trespassing charges. The men have not been identified; authorities described them only as white men in their late 20s.
The two men purchased tickets and entered the Space Needle at approximately 8:50 p.m. Friday, according to the Seattle Police Department, as reported by the Associated Press. Surveillance cameras captured them at the top level of the observation deck before they entered a restroom, emerging with helmets on.
After exiting the restroom, the men ran to the glass wall that surrounds the observation deck, climbed over to the exterior side, and jumped, according to police. The Space Needle's observation deck is described as a round platform enclosed by high glass windows open to the sky above.
Security personnel at the Space Needle were unable to determine where the men landed, and responding police officers could not locate them. Public Affairs Officer Brian Pritchard confirmed the trespassing charges the two jumpers face, according to the AP report.
