On September 10, 2026, the one-year anniversary of conservative activist Charlie Kirk's assassination, a student at the University of Utah presented a cake reading "Happy Kirkiversary" to members of the school's College Republicans chapter. A member of the group posted a photo of the incident to X, leading to an anonymous user publicly identifying the student as Sara Larsen. The university subsequently opened a misconduct review of two College Republicans — chapter chairman Riley Beesley and member Rylie Barnes — related to allegations of doxxing.

On the first anniversary of Charlie Kirk's death, a student identified as Sara Larsen approached College Republicans at an event on the University of Utah campus and presented a white cake with "Happy Kirkiversary" written in red icing. College Republicans member Rylie Barnes posted a photo of the incident to X, where it went viral and an anonymous account publicly named the student.

Meetings canceled by UofU

The University of Utah's Student Rights and Responsibilities office sent emails to Beesley and Barnes requesting closed-door meetings, stating that it had received a report about "an incident that happened on or about September 11, 2026" allegedly involving the students "attempting to doxx another University of Utah student over a political issue." The emails, obtained by Fox News Digital, were signed by assistant director Jose Morales Diaz and also instructed the students not to record the meetings. The university abruptly canceled the meetings shortly before they were scheduled, according to Beesley.

Beesley told Fox News Digital that his group had no involvement in releasing Larsen's personal information and said he condemned both doxxing and political violence. He described the cake incident as "distasteful, vile, and disgusting" and said the public had a right to know about what he characterized as a pattern of behavior among students on the left. The school's College Democrats, according to Fox News Digital's reporting, responded by saying Republicans were "waging a campaign of hate" against them.
